Rethinking Portfolio Site and Thoughts on JavaScript

So … I’m rethinking my portfolio site.  I don’t think I’m pushing myself far enough.  In some ways, though, I think I should just put something up for now.   Anyhow, …, I’m learning some more ActionScript, so I figure, I will come up with with something better as I progress and discover more possibilities.  I feel right now, I suffer from a lack of imagination.  I guess I need to find some inspiration.

I just completed a formal class in JavaScript and I have mixed feelings.  I feel for simple things, JavaScript is good, but I left class feeling for complex user intefaces, it’s better to use something like Flash to avoid the browser compatibility issues.   I’m also torn on “AJAX” via JavaScript.  Again, I understand that some of the same interactions with servers can be accomplished with Flash, so I’m tempted to use Flash, again, to avoid the browser compability issues.  In general, though, the situation leaves me kinda cheesed at the browser providers.  Life would be so much easier if they stick with the same standard and differentiate themselves via the end user experience.

Sigh … I wanna make some manga wallpaper.  There are some images from “Ouran” that I would like to enhance.  I wonder when I will have time ???  I’ve decided to concentrate on cleaning the office this week.
